Once Upon a Time - A short Poem to amuse for 2 mins

Once upon a time when Facebook was young,
it was full of family, and friends, and fun.

A click meant nothing and a “like” was true,
And it just didn’t matter to me or to you.

Then time passed and the ads amassed,
Your collected “likes” and clicks are your true past.

Politicians and business, collect your every move,
Their algorithms they made are now their food.

We tell them our wants and share our fears,
They put us together so we can shed our tears.

The solutions we are fed, whether blue or red,
More extreme by the day and full of dread.

You are now what you “like” and not what your say,
We are losing our freedom, a little each day.

Our freedom to grow is not yours to control,
You can no longer debate, have a too and froe.

Instead, we are wed to the path we are fed,
Willing participants becoming brain dead.

We knee jerk oppose, in the blink of an eye,
Never asking “who says?” and never asking “why?”

It’s a gift for those who want to impose,
The views extreme, and who we should oppose.

To test our views and find our conviction,
We were given minds, ears, eyes, intuition.

Humans are optimized to reason face to face.
It is the doom of mankind if this is replaced.

Have days off the laptop, the app and the phone,
Take the challenge! and have days alone.

Take time to reason, research and consider,
Don’t be a bitch to some paid influencer.

Its ok to debate at a location unknown,
To make up your mind, all on your own.

Strike out yourself and take the pain!
Remember controlled Russians allow Ukraine.

Can’t happen here? In the democratic west?
Really!? Cambridge Analytic and all the rest…..

Careful what you “like” and now what you say,
The algorithm is listening all night and all day.
